Active washing ingredients provide gentle, effective cleaning power

There’s nothing weird or mystical about Simply Laundry Balls. The pellets in each laundry ball contain active ingredients that slowly dissolve in the water as you wash, providing gentle, effective cleaning power.

Our washing pellets consist mainly of mineral oxides that make water less acidic, plus natural surfactants – agents that break up the surface tension of water. Surfactants help water penetrate into smaller holes, for instance into the microscopic openings in the fibres of your clothes, to get the dirt out and take it away.

As the active ingredients in Simply Laundry Balls are released in the water, extra oxygen molecules are also formed and the pH level of the water is changed to become more alkaline. Our wash balls use exactly the same cleaning principles as  laundry powders – just gentler, and without soapy suds or harsh chemicals.

Your clothes, your skin and the planet will feel the difference!

If you try them and aren't convinced after 60 days, simply send them back to us and we'll give you a 100% refund.  We warranty the plastic balls for 1 year, so will replace them free of charge if they break in that period.

Ingredients you can trust

You deserve to know what goes into your laundry water… These ingredients go into our waterways and your skin will be exposed to these agents almost 24 hours a day.  It's a shame that it isn't compulsory for all cleaning products to provide a list of ingredients so that consumers can compare and research what they want to use.  We feel it's important that you know what our washing pellets are made from.  Everything is a chemical, even plain water,

The washing pellets contain trace quantities of a small number of ingredients:

What it is

What it does

Sodium carbonate (washing soda or soda ash)

Softens the water by binding with calcium and magnesium in the water. Removes oil, grease and alcohol stains.

Digitonin

Obtained from foxgloves, it dissolves lipid fats.

Aluminium hydroxide (the natural mineral gibbsite)

Commonly used in antacid tablets, it makes the water less acidic.

Olefin sulfonate

Made from either coconuts or petroleum, this surfactant helps water penetrate the fibres.

Calcium carbonate

Commonly used in antacid tablets, it makes the water less acidic and is a base for the pellets.

Lemon or lavender oil (your choice of fragrance)

Provides a subtle, natural fragrance.

Acrylonitrile monemer

Binding agent that holds the pellets together.

Ethyl acetate

A mild solvent that occurs naturally in fruit.

Sodium metasilicate (water glass)

A strong alkaline base also used in home brewing and food preservation.

There’s a whole swag of  chemicals commonly found in washing powders that you won’t ever find in a Simply Laundry Ball.

What it is:

What it does:

Optical brighteners

The dyes absorb certain spectrums of light to make fabrics look whiter. They’re a big culprit that cause allergic reactions.

Bleaching agents

Remove colour via oxydation. Safe to use… if the concentration is low enough.

Strong artificial fragrances

Pleases the nose, but often irritates skin.

Phosphorus

Softens water. Its derivatives used in laundry detergent are banned in some countries.

Enzymes

Proteins that enhance certain chemical reactions.

Do you know what you’re putting into our waterways and onto your skin when you use laundry powders?

Even other laundry balls don’t disclose what’s in them… Why not?
